Early yesterday morning we rolled in to Califon for the Sunday flea market(second day). It was very quiet until about 12:30 or so. It never got as crowded as we had hoped but we managed to make several sales anyway. It is the first year they have organized this so just maybe we'll try again next spring..if they have it again..
Our path crossed with several friendly and interesting vendors & customers. We met Lee, our favorite new found vendor friend. She had lovingly collected, over the years, some beautiful jewelry pieces and simply things she is fond of. You just knew each one of her things was specially chosen from the many a country store she had visited. We had a lovely customer who bought a mirror from us and also wanted our small antique chair to accompany her desk. We thought it best to persuade her to look around the market for that special chair as ours was more decorative & perhaps a piece that should be used at holiday dinners occassionally for that additional person you need an extra chair for. Sometimes you have to do whats best & pass on the sale, I guess...but it is a cute chair!
As we cleaned up at the end of the day, the 'tie die ' vendor played us out on his guitar singing 'Me & Julio down by the school yard' which kept us moving to the beat as we boxed up our stuff...What a creative, happy gentleman. He had his tied dye shirts hanging up along the wall. He even had tye dyed bikini underwear!!! I had to laugh. He seemed to have a good number of sales through out the day.
Check out our photos....
